Nucor Corp. (NYSE:NUE) declared that its second-quarter profit declined 24%, to $85.1 million, or 27 cents per share, as compared to $112.3 million, or 35 cents per share, a year ago.

Revenue declined 9%, to $4.67 billion, as compared $5.10 billion a year ago, the maker of steel and steel products reported on Thursday.

Experts had anticipated earnings of 30 cents per share on revenue of $4.62 billion, as per reported by FactSet.

The firm reported that it witnessed a decline in sheet steel in the second quarter, but it predicts to observe enhancements in sheet steel pricing in the third quarter. The previous month, Nucor was below what experts had been predicting at that time. Shares in Nucor were slightly moved in the premarket session.

Union Pacific (NYSE:UNP) declared that its second-quarter profit jumped up to $1.1 billion, or $2.37 per share, as compared to $1 billion, or $2.10 per share, a year ago.

Revenue jumped up to $5.47 billion, as compared to $5.22 billion a year ago, the railroad operator reported on Thursday. Experts had predicted earnings of $2.35 per share, on revenue of $5.5 billion, as per reported by FactSet.

The firm reported robust core pricing gains assisted to compensate a meek decline in volumes. Shares in Union Pacific were unmoved in the premarket session on Thursday.
